Marianas Island Sea Turtle and Cetacean
Surveys (MISTCS)
The MISTCS project was a three month long effort conducted in winter/spring 2007 that resulted in many new findings. Among these was the 're-discovery' of a humpback whale breeding site, information on the distribution of calling minke whales (previously undocumented in the region), and the first recordings of sei whales in the western Pacific. Bio-waves provided the personnel who deployed and operated the towed hydrophone array and sonobuoy systems used to detect and monitor bio-acoustic signals from marine mammals. |
