Tina Yack
Ms. Yack has been involved in bioacoustic research for over a decade. She has been working for Bio-Waves, Inc. since its start in 2006. Currently Ms. Yack is working for NOAA's Southwest Fisheries Science Center as a contract employee with Bio-Waves, Inc. She has conducted passive acoustic monitoring during numerous marine mammal surveys and studies where she was responsible for setting-up, operating and maintaining passive acoustic detection and localization systems. Ms Yack has served as bioacoustician and Senior Acoustic Technician for NOAA and Bio-Waves field research projects in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean, Alaska and the Northeastern Pacific, Arctic waters, and waters off of Hawaii. She has experience in hydrophone array building, set-up, and maintenance, in addition to testing and validation of automated whistle and click detectors using PamGuard, ISHMAEL, XBAT, Matlab and other bioacoustic and signal processing software. She is currently a PhD candidate in the SDSU/UC-Davis Joint Doctoral Ecology Program.
