Passive Acoustic Technician Training Course

Bio-Waves is currently developing a Passive Acoustic Monitoring Course to assist with recruitment and training of field technicians. Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) using towed hydrophone arrays is of increasing interest to academia, private research companies, the navy, and the oil and gas industry because of its applications in mitigation efforts, abundance and distribution research, and species identification and tracking. This course combines theoretical instruction with hands-on demonstrations to give participants a working knowledge of towed array hardware, software and data management. The goal of this comprehensive series of activities and tutorials is to provide individuals with the necessary tools and basic skills to prepare them for work as passive acoustic field technicians.
